Place Value Worksheets
These place value worksheets cover tens and ones, hundreds, and thousands. Each set has four practice pages: base ten blocks and expanded form; the value of the underlined digit and comparing numbers with >, < and =; a place value chart with word form and standard form; and 10 more, 10 less, 100 more, 100 less and ordering numbers. Answer keys print after them.

Teaching ideas for place value
- Build it first: have students make each number with real base ten blocks before drawing or writing it.
- Say it three ways: standard form (347), expanded form (300 + 40 + 7) and word form (three hundred forty-seven).
- Compare from the left: look at the biggest place first. If those digits match, move one place to the right.
- Standards: Common Core 1.NBT.B.2 covers tens and ones, 2.NBT.A.1 covers hundreds, tens and ones, 2.NBT.A.3 covers number names and expanded form to 1,000, 2.NBT.A.4 covers comparing three-digit numbers, and 2.NBT.B.8 covers mentally adding or subtracting 10 or 100.
