Arrays Worksheets
Students look at dot arrays, count the rows and how many are in each row, and write a matching number sentence. Then they draw their own arrays from a description and find the total.
Choose arrays up to 5 × 5 with repeated addition, or up to 8 × 8 with multiplication sentences.

Arrays: Answer Key
Count the rows and how many are in each row. Write an addition sentence with equal addends.
4 rows of 5
5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 20
5 rows of 4
4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 20
4 rows of 2
2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8
4 rows of 3
3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12
5 rows of 5
5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 25
3 rows of 4
4 + 4 + 4 = 12
Draw an array with dots. Then find the total.
5 rows of 3
3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 15
2 rows of 3
3 + 3 = 6
2 rows of 4
4 + 4 = 8
Teaching tips
- Common Core 2.OA.C.4 asks students to use addition to find the total in a rectangular array with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns, writing the total as a sum of equal addends.
- Common Core 3.OA.A.1 asks students to interpret products, such as 5 × 7 as the total in 5 groups of 7.
- Build arrays with counters or egg cartons first.
