Beginning Sounds Worksheets
Students say each picture name and circle the letter for its first sound, color the pictures that start with a target letter, then write the first letter to finish 12 picture words.

Teaching tips
- Common Core RF.K.2.d asks students to isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel and final sounds in CVC words, and RF.K.3.a asks them to produce the primary sound for each consonant.
- Stretch the first sound: “mmm-op.” Then ask, “What letter makes that sound?”
- Say the sound, not the letter name: /b/ for bat, not “bee.”
