Letter to Santa Template Printable
Writing a letter to Santa is one of the most fun writing tasks of the year, and kids actually want to finish it. This free template gives them a friendly “Dear Santa,” page with snowflake art and a “Love, ___” sign-off, ready to print.
Pick the fill-in-the-blank style for preschool through 2nd grade: short sentence starters ask for their name, age, something they were good at, a kind thing they did, three wishes, and a gift idea for someone else. Older kids can switch to the lined letter and write freely. Type a name and age to fill them in before printing, or leave them blank so kids write their own, and turn the drawing box on or off.
Dear Santa,
- My name is ______________.
- I am ______ years old.
- This year I was really good at
- Something kind I did for someone was
- For Christmas, I would love:1.2.3.
- I would like to give a gift to because

Teaching tips
- Use it as a friendly-letter lesson: point out the greeting, the body and the closing before kids start writing.
- Ask for at least one wish for someone else. It turns a wish list into a kindness and empathy prompt.
- Families who mail letters can look up the USPS Operation Santa program, which collects real letters to Santa each holiday season.
- Print on cardstock or colored paper and let kids decorate the snowflakes before mailing or hanging the letters on a bulletin board.
