Number Bonds and Make 10 Worksheets
A number bond shows how a whole breaks into two parts. Page one has eight number bonds with a missing whole or part, plus two blank bonds for students to make their own. Page two practices make 10: fill a ten frame to find the number that makes 10, then use the make-a-ten strategy to add.
Choose bonds up to 5, 10 or 20 and press “New worksheet” for new numbers.
Number Bonds
The top circle is the whole. The two bottom circles are the parts. Part + part = whole. Fill in the missing number.
___ + ___ = ___

Make 10
How many more make 10? Draw dots to fill the ten frame. Then finish the number sentence.
5 + = 10
9 + = 10
8 + = 10
1 + = 10
4 + = 10
2 + = 10
Make a ten to add. Break apart the second number so the first number becomes 10. Example: 8 + 5 = 8 + 2 + 3 = 10 + 3 = 13
- 6 + 9 = 6 + + = 10 + =
- 8 + 3 = 8 + + = 10 + =
- 7 + 6 = 7 + + = 10 + =
- 8 + 9 = 8 + + = 10 + =
- 7 + 8 = 7 + + = 10 + =
- 9 + 3 = 9 + + = 10 + =

- 8 + 9 = 8 + 2 + 7 = 10 + 7 = 17
- 7 + 8 = 7 + 3 + 5 = 10 + 5 = 15
- 9 + 3 = 9 + 1 + 2 = 10 + 2 = 12
Teaching tips
- Common Core K.OA.A.3 asks kindergartners to break numbers up to 10 into pairs in more than one way, and K.OA.A.4 asks them to find the number that makes 10 with any number from 1 to 9.
- Common Core 1.OA.C.6 lists making ten (8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14) as an addition strategy within 20.
- Use two colors of counters to build each bond before writing it.
